The performance-orientated society does not allow many dreams (or dreamers) – even if dreams are sold to the public everywhere. Footballers who are looking for a breakthrough but are constantly on the brink of failure are replaced at a rapid pace. ‘The Other Fields” shows’ how the entertainment and sports industries are intertwined and are ultimately just another outgrowth of the capitalist production system.
