We were allowed to create the Digital Cinema Distribution Master (DCDM) and the Digital Cinema Packages (DCP) of “COMPASSION AND INCONVENIENCE” for Vika Kirchenbauer for storage at the Bundesarchiv:

COMPASSION AND INCONVENIENCE

Everything that seems self-evident and normal today arose at some point. COMPASSION AND INCONVENIENCE explores the artistic field by historicizing it and proposing a different context of creation than that usually considered. Specifically, the essay-performance video looks at the first public exhibitions of contemporary art in London in the mid-18th century and the events and circumstances that led to them. An often-overlooked welfare institution for “abandoned infants” becomes the starting point for the founding of European art institutions in which private-sector and colonial interests intersect with ideas of charity and the pursuit of sophistication. Historical texts are spoken by a cast whose speaking positions differ from those of the authors of the text sources. The work uses performance to repeat with a difference and thus addresses a complex legacy that is passed on to current actors through the institutionalized structures of art.
